screenprinting

we learned a new screen printing method! it's by using photo emulsion solution. it's actually good to use this method if u have very detailed and intricate designs u want to screen print. i was really fascinated with how it worked.

so, for one of our workshops, we had to create a map of an area using screen printing. one of the screen printing methods had to be the photo emulsion method. photos below show my friends and i screen printing using the silkscreen that we had exposed using the photo emulsion exposing machine.

we tried screen printing on different types of papers. i did it on the chinese calendar paper whereas Gui Teng did it on tracing paper. i think both were a success even though after screen printing on tracing paper, the paper wrinkles up a little. we had to wipe/wash off the acrylic paint every time we wanted to screen print another element and then wait for the silkscreen to dry so that took a lot of energy and time pheww.

but overall, i think our maps came out nicely! i was quite satisfied with mine. if i were to improve on making this map, perhaps i would pick a darker acrylic colour to make the elements stand out more.
